CLIENT EXPERIENCES

What our clients experience through the partnership.

Every engagement begins in a different place. Across organizations and sectors, clients describe greater clarity, stronger leadership practice, deeper connection, and more confidence in how the organization moves forward.

THUNDERBIRD CLIENT EXPERIENCE

“I think what I did not expect was the depth of connection that developed throughout the leadership team.”

Kim Després

Chief Executive Officer, Circle the City

CLIENT STORY 01

Building Executive Capacity Beyond the CEO

Leadership team working together around tables during a facilitated session.

Southwest Health System began the work with a talented but relatively young senior leadership group. The goal was not simply to strengthen individual leaders. It was to help the executive team operate as a coherent leadership system.

Through executive coaching, team development, DiSC, and repeated application, the team clarified what it meant to function as executives rather than only as operational leaders. That distinction strengthened role clarity, communication, and confidence across the group.

The work began to extend beyond the executive team. DiSC was incorporated into new-hire orientation, department-level teaming practices were introduced, and leaders used a shared language to work through conflict.

THUNDERBIRD CLIENT EXPERIENCE

“I no longer have to be or feel like I need to be everywhere in order for an executive of the organization to be present and speaking.”

Joe Theine, Chief Executive Officer, Southwest Health System

CLIENT STORY 02

Turning Leadership Development Into Operating Practice

Leaders participating in a facilitated workshop during a hospital leadership engagement.

Huntsville Memorial Hospital entered the partnership seeking more than periodic leadership training. The organization wanted a sustained approach that could strengthen executives, managers, and directors while supporting the realities of a rural hospital environment.

The work combined executive teaming, leadership development, and coaching. Over time, leaders became more engaged in the process, increased their self-awareness, and developed a stronger ability to adapt communication across different styles and roles.

One of the clearest changes appeared in the hospital’s operating meetings. Meeting agendas were revised to capture decisions and action items explicitly. Those decisions were then reviewed at the next meeting, creating greater continuity and follow-through.

THUNDERBIRD CLIENT EXPERIENCE

“By following up at the next meeting and saying, at the last meeting, here are the decisions that were made and here were the items we were going to act on, that has helped tremendously.”

Patrick Shannon, Former Chief Executive Officer, Huntsville Memorial Hospital

WHAT CHANGES OVER TIME

Change becomes visible in the ways leadership is practiced every day.

Organizations rarely change because of one conversation or one workshop. More often, change becomes visible in the conversations leaders begin having, the decisions they begin making, and the ways teams begin working together.

Sustainable performance develops through the accumulation of these everyday leadership practices, not through isolated moments of inspiration.

THUNDERBIRD PERSPECTIVE

Sustainable change becomes visible in how people lead and work together after the engagement ends.

We look beyond participation and satisfaction to changes in leadership practice, team behavior, decision-making, communication, and the organizational conditions that support sustained performance.

BEGIN WITH A CONVERSATION

What could stronger leadership and organizational practice make possible for your organization?

Every organization begins from a different place. A conversation can help clarify what you are experiencing, what may be contributing to it, and where focused attention could create the greatest value.

Organizational capability is how sustainable performance is built.

Measurable outcomes matter. Sustainable performance takes hold when stronger leadership practices become shared organizational capability, shaping how people communicate, decide, collaborate, and follow through.
